Bill Belichick might have a real chance of getting back into the NFL after the New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll this week.

“We spoke this morning about the direction of our franchise on the field, and we have decided that, at this time, it is in our best interest to make a change at the head coaching position,” president John Mara and chairman Steve Tisch said in a joint statement after the team blew yet another second-half lead on Sunday and lost.

“The past few seasons have been nothing short of disappointing, and we have not met our expectations for this franchise. We understand the frustrations of our fans, and we will work to deliver a significantly improved product.

“We appreciate Coach Daboll for his contributions to our organization. We wish the Daboll family all the best in the future.”

Monday’s firing of Brian Daboll means that in 2026, they’ll have their fifth coach in 11 seasons.

Unlike in past years, it is actually an attractive job with the emergence of quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Malik Nabers, and running back Cameron Skattebo.

Belichick left the Giants in 1991 to coach the Cleveland Browns, but he didn’t find real success as a head coach until he took his talents to the New England Patriots and had Tom Brady fall into his lap.

So, would he make the move?

A new report is now stating that Bill Belichick has let it be known that he wants the job.

“.. He’d walk from Chapel Hill to East Rutherford for this job, I really believe that,” said Gary Myers, a longtime sports author.

“I think [Belichick] desperately wants the 15 victories to pass [Don] Shula [as the winningest coach of all time] and he desperately wants to win a Super Bowl without [Tom] Brady.”

Bill Belichick’s First Year In College Has Been A Disaster

The New York Giants officially have a coaching vacancy after firing Brian Daboll on Monday.

Belichick famously won two Super Bowls as a defensive coordinator under legendary coach Bill Parcells with the New York Giants. His tenure in New England didn’t end well after quarterback Tom Brady’s departure, and now his first year as a college coach for the North Carolina Tar Heels is going even worse.

It has led to some speculation that he might be trying to find a way out.

The North Carolina Tar Heels won on Saturday as they improved their record to 4-5. However, there have been way more down moments than good ones, and it has a lot to do with his relationship with a 24-year-old.

It’s safe to say that the Bill Belichick experiment has not been successful in college football.
