Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown never thought he would see this day.

He was extradited from Dubai to the United States on Thursday to face trial on an attempted murder charge related to a shooting earlier this year.

In June, he faced a warrant for his arrest on an attempted murder charge following an incident at a celebrity boxing match in Miami, where he initially claimed he “was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me.”

It was alleged that Antonio Brown stole a firearm from a security guard, chased one of the men in question down, and fired the gun two times in their direction.

In the days following the incident, he left the country and refused to return to the United States.

Hours after the news came out on his arrest, it seemed the former Bucs wideout got a chance to speak out.

Brown seemingly broke his silence on his X account to state, “Handed over the keys to the socials and CTESPN to my team while I go through this fight for my innocence.”

“Happy to showcase love & entertainment. All love & respect to everyone for the support,” he finished.

A second-degree attempted murder charge carries a maximum 15-year prison sentence and up to a $10,000 fine in the event of a conviction.

During his playing career, Brown caught 928 passes for 12,291 yards and 88 touchdowns.

The 37-year-old former wide receiver played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning the 2021 Super Bowl alongside Brady.

Antonio Brown’s career would come to an end during a 2021 game with Tampa Bay against the New York Jets when he took off his jersey, shoulder pads, and gloves before running off the field, which led to his release by the Buccaneers.
