Amon-Ra St. Brown has been catching a ton of backlash after scoring a touchdown in the first quarter on Sunday, and pointing toward the suite level at Northwest Stadium – where President D0nald Trum:p was taking in the Week 10 game – before celebrating his score with a “Trump dance.”

The dance involves pumping both fists in the air while swaying the hips.

As we all saw in the second quarter, St. Brown would soon be punched in the face by Commanders defensive star Daron Payne, which ultimately led to his ejection from the game.

With President D0nald Trum:p watching from the stands, the receiver’s homage went viral, sparking immediate debate across social media.

Now, the Detroit Lions wideout is breaking his silence.

St. Brown is explaining the reasoning behind the controversial salute, clarifying that his intentions were much simpler than many fans assumed.

On the most recent episode of the “St. Brown brothers‘” podcast, the Lions wideout decided to break his silence over the major backlash he continues to receive.

Amon-Ra directly addressed why he performed the dance, saying, “First of all, if I offended anyone, I do apologize. I did not mean to offend anyone. It was just that we were having fun. If any President was at that game, if they had a dance, I would have done it.”

In the game against the Commanders, Amon-Ra St. Brown hauled in five of his eight targets for 58 yards and one touchdown in the Lions’ 44-22 Week 10 win.

“It had nothing to do with who the President was,” St. Brown added.
