Saturday’s game between Bethune-Cookman and Grambling State produced one of the craziest fights we’ve seen take place on the gridiron in quite some time.

The home side improved to 7-3 with a 31-23 win on the day, while the result left the visitors with a 5-5 record.

One of the most highly anticipated HBCU outings of the weekend, it certainly lived up to the hype, especially in the first half.

The teams went at each other’s throats in the way everyone would want as the Tigers went into halftime leading by four.

The second half could hardly get underway before players took the fight to each other in the most literal sense. They began pushing and shoving while making their way out of the tunnel, and before you know it, an insane brawl kicked off.

You can see some of it in the clips below:

Coaches and officials had to intervene; even local police were needed, and it took several minutes for the situation to de-escalate.

On-field fighting has been prevalent this season, both at the high school and college levels. Even Cam Newton got himself a little action against a mascot recently.

By the end of it, nine players had been ejected, five from Grambling State and four from Bethune-Cookman. SWAC and school officials will review footage from the fight to determine whether further action is necessary.
