It looks like the First Family’s holiday may look a bit awkward this year after a source exposed the drama between the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, and her son-in-law, Eric Trump.

A source told Rob Shuter’s Subtack that Melania recently told Eric to “shut his mouth” after his comments about her son, Barron Trump, whom she shares with President Donald Trump. (Eric, for his part, is Donald’s son from his marriage to Ivana Trump, whom the president divorced in 1990.) “Melania does not want Barron discussed. Ever,” the source said, adding that Melania was “deeply uncomfortable” with Eric’s “trending” comments about his half-brother. “She told Eric to shut his mouth. She protects that boy like a lioness.”

The insider continued, “He’s in college. He wants a quiet life. Headlines and memes are the last thing she wants for him.”

The report came after Eric spoke about Barron in an episode of The Megyn Kelly Show on November 14, where he addressed rumors that Barron told former President Joe Biden to “fuck himself” during Donald’s second inauguration in January 2025.

“Do you remember that whole controversy where he went up to Biden, and they had all these like lip-reading experts, and they’re like, ‘Barron just told Biden to go F himself’?” Eric said before revealing that he called his half-brother to ask what he really said to Biden.

“It was something so polite I almost wouldn’t even get it right — but, like, ‘Congratulations and best of luck to you’ — or something like that,” Eric continued. “Something very respectful.”

He added, “He doesn’t have that in him. He’s a nice guy. He’s probably thinking it. But he’s too courteous to actually go out there and say it. Barron’s a really nice kid.”

Eric also spoke on Barron’s personal life in an interview on the “PBD Podcast” in October 2025 where he joked that Barron shut down a whole floor of Trump tower for a date. “Shutting down a floor of Trump Tower is like PG-13 versus where my mind would have been at his age in terms of the dating scene,” he said.

When asked if he had given his half-brother any dating advice, Eric told the podcast, “Oh, God, you don’t want to know the dating advice I gave Barron. I’m gonna get myself in so much trouble.” He added, “Joking aside, Barron’s a great kid. His head’s clearly on his shoulders and he’s a good man, I’m proud of him.”

A source told People in August 2025 that Melania “constantly” worries about Barron and knows his whereabouts at all times while he was in college at New York University’s Stern School of Business. “Melania watches Barron constantly in an effort to be sure nobody messes with him or bullies him, as this is a constant worry with her,” the insider said. “She always knows where he is and what he’s doing.”

Another source also told the magazine in December 2024 that Melania had opted Barron out of on-campus housing for his comfort. “She will do everything she can to make sure Barron does well in school and is socially and mentally adjusted to his life as a college student,” the insider said, adding that living in the dorms wasn’t “in the stars” for Barron “at this point.”

A third source also added about how well-liked Barron was at his university. “He’s tall and handsome,” the insider said. “A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive — yes, even liberal people like him.”
