The studio has since made some arrangements to accommodate the veteran host, who showed off her significantly bruised and broken toe upon her return on Friday.
Fans noticed at the start of Monday’s episode that Joy and her co-hosts, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, were already sitting at the table instead of walking out as they usually do.
It was then explained that the intro change was to better serve Joy, who is currently sporting a boot cast due to her injury.
Joy previously shared that she broke her toe after dropping an iPad on her foot, which caused her to miss several days of shows.
She later opened up about the “very painful” experience and showcased her bandaged right foot for the cameras.
Viewers expressed concerns for the TV star during her time away, especially after moderator Whoopi Goldberg, who is in Italy this week filming a project, hinted on Tuesday she would “hopefully” return the following day.
However, when that wasn’t the case, Whoopi revealed that Joy had hurt her foot and promised she would be back eventually.
Even laid up, Joy stayed connected with her The View family, sending Whoopi lasagna for her 70th birthday, despite not being able to attend the in-studio celebration.
The show’s cast and crew have been banding together more than ever lately, as fears loom that they could be the next talk show to get cancelled if they don’t soften their tone toward the Trump administration.

Joy is technically the longest-serving host on The View, having been on the show since 1997, though she took a brief hiatus from 2013 to 2015.
Whoopi, 70, holds the title of the longest-serving consecutive host, joining the panel in 2007.
Both have been repeatedly asked when they plan to retire, and it appears it won’t be anytime soon.
Joy revealed on a September 2023 episode of The View: Behind the Table podcast that, for her, “there’s no such thing as retiring,” as she continues to add more projects to her plate.
Whoopi had a similar response when speaking with Entertainment Tonight about the possibility of leaving the show, to which she said, “No, not by now. Not yet. I gotta keep paying those bills, baby.”
