The d3ath of young high school athlete Austin Metcalf shook the whole internet.

While the FBI and police department are still coming to a conclusion, social media theorists and illicit accounts are spreading conspiracy theories.

Karmelo Anthony, 17, reportedly st@bbed Metcalf in the chest on April 2, 2025, during an altercation at a track meet. The confrontation escalated quickly when Anthony allegedly pulled out a knife, leading to Metcalf’s f@tal injury.

Following the incident, numerous fraudulent social media accounts have emerged, impersonating local officials. One of the alleged accounts claimed itself to be Frisco Police Chief David Shilson and another as the Collin County Medical Examiner’s Office.

One widely circulated fake post falsely claimed that Metcalf di3d from an β€œMDMA drug overdose.” According to the post, a st@b wound was a secondary cause of d3ath. Officials have clarified that no such medical report has been released.

They deem the information circulating online as false.

Another bogus post, which misrepresented Shilson, claimed that Metcalf had instigated the fight byΒ β€œsucker punching” Anthony and had alsoΒ β€œsmashed [Anthony’s] phone onto one of the bleachers.”

It claimed that the 𝘚𝘡𝘒𝘣𝘣π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨 occurred during a supposed β€œmutual combat,” though it was later mentioned that the claim held little ground.
