David Muir showed footage of a horrifying video that left viewers with “chills.”

The World News Tonight anchor showed body camera footage that showed officers near Los Angeles chasing down and arresting a male domestic violence suspect. The chase happened after a woman used a hand signal behind her back while in a 7-Eleven, asking for help.

According to reporter Kayna Whitworth, it is unknown what hand signal was used, but the signal has been praised for saving the lives of domestic violence victims. Someone in the store alerted authorities, who quickly responded and started to question the suspect.

ABC World News Tonight’s Instagram page posted the news segment, with viewers getting “chills” and praising the bystander who helped save the woman’s life.

One person commented, “This gave me chills. So glad someone knew this signal and called the police.” Another person wrote, “Good for her!! And glad they bystanders actually acted on it!!!!”

A third person commented, “thank you!!! You have no idea how you saved her!! I was her and not saved!” A fourth wrote, “Standing ovation to the person who recognize the signal!”

Others were upset that ABC showed the hand signal.

One person wrote, “Not smart for social media to inform the world that the victim used the signal. She did it behind her back for a reason-now the suspect knows.” Another person wrote, “ABCnews, this was your opportunity to teach, and you blew it. It would have taken a second to teach that hand signal. Why didn’t you do it???”

Viewers were also left divided after he halted his ABC show for a controversial announcement.

On the September 3 episode, David said that Taylor Swift is being considered for the next Super Bowl Halftime Show. The ABC night anchor said that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell responded, “Maybe,” when asked about the potential performance, saying questions should be “referred” to Jay-Z, who produces the infamous show.

Speaking on the Today Show, Goodell shared, “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent and obviously, she would be welcomed at any time.”

When asked if the collaboration was “in the works”, he responded, “I can’t tell you anything about that… It’s a maybe.”
