Gospel icon CeCe Winans left Detroit’s Ford Field stunned with her emotional rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner on Thanksgiving.
Winans, 61, was given the honor of performing the national anthem ahead of the festive day’s early game between the Lions and Packers – and she certainly made the most of her opportunity.
She captivated the audience and left some clearly emotional, with fans taking to social media to share an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the song.
‘That’s the best national anthem performance of all-time,’ one wrote, while another added: ‘CeCe Winans just absolutely slayed the national anthem.’
A third noted: ‘Get this woman singing our national anthem at the Super Bowl, that was an incredible performance.’
On the field, players and coaches looked visibly moved, with two Packers stars unable to take their eyes off the screen while she sang.

Winans is the most highly-decorated gospel singer of all-time, with 17 Grammy Awards and a remarkable 36 GMA Dove Awards.
She is also an inductee of the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame, and has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Singing the national anthem at a sporting event can be a divisive task, with fans quick to slaughter any renditions they don’t believe to be up to standard.
