David Muir broke into his evening newscast to report on a “terrifying” break-in at the home of Benny Blanco’s mother, who is also Selena Gomez’s mother-in-law.

Sandra Levin’s Studio City residence was targeted by burglars during the night, officials confirmed. Muir , who has a staggering net worth and mega salary, announced on television, “A scare for Selena Gomez’s mother-in-law during a home invasion, masked intruders breaking in.”

Law enforcement verified that Levin was inside her home when the crime took place. “Police say Gomez’s mother-in-law, Sandra Levin, was at home in Studio City, California. Two men in masks broke in, and she barricaded herself upstairs and was able to call 9-1-1. The men fled before police arrived. Levin was not hurt,” Muir added. It comes after Selena Gomez’s blunt five-word response to Hailey Bieber’s fiery rant.

The Los Angeles Police Department received the burglary report at approximately 9:15 p.m. Monday evening. The caller informed dispatchers that three men had smashed through a sliding glass door at the property.

The perpetrators escaped before officers could respond to the scene. “The home of Benny Blanco’s mother was burglarized overnight,” an LAPD representative confirmed to KABC, the local ABC affiliate. Authorities stated that the criminals searched through the house and made off with belongings, though specifics about the stolen items haven’t been disclosed.

The exact location where Levin took shelter during the invasion remains somewhat uncertain, though a reporter at the location indicated she had concealed herself in an upstairs bathroom while contacting law enforcement. Investigators are actively pursuing leads in the case.

Neighbors were reportedly unaware that Blanco’s mother lived at the targeted residence. Others said the home has been targeted previously and noted that burglaries have become more common in the area.

“Do I feel safe? Much less so than when we moved here, like, 27 years ago,” Studio City resident Tim Knipe told KABC. “Now, not so much. We check our locks to make sure the alarm’s on. It’s a much different life.”

The break-in occurs during the ongoing high-profile relationship of Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco. The pair, who recently got engaged, have typically maintained their personal affairs away from public scrutiny.

While they sometimes post snippets of their relationship on social media, neither Gomez nor Blanco has publicly addressed the home invasion.

Studio City, a Los Angeles community renowned for its blend of established residents and entertainment industry professionals, has seen an increase in burglary and break-in incidents in recent months.

Authorities are advising residents to remain alert and to report any suspicious behavior. Law enforcement is encouraging anyone with details about the burglary to reach out to the LAPD’s North Hollywood station.

This event underscores the growing worry about residential security in Studio City, a community where established residents are now implementing additional safety measures. Numerous households are purchasing alarms, surveillance systems, and reinforced locks as part of their strategy to protect their properties.

For families with high-profile connections to stars such as Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, these safety measures have become especially crucial.
