The 2025 NFL regular season hasn’t even started yet, and football fans are already tired of “Sunday Night Football” analyst Cris Collinsworth.

Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth were on the call for the 2025 Hall of Fame Game between the Los Angeles Chargers and Detroit Lions in Canton, Ohio, for NBC Sports on Thursday evening. The Bolts went on to win 34-7, with Trey Lance throwing two touchdowns in the victory.

2025 marks the fourth season with Tirico and Collinsworthy in the broadcast booth together full-time. Tirico joined NBC Sports in 2016 and took over as the permanent play-by-play voice for “Sunday Night Football” in 2022, with Al Michaels leaving and signing a deal to call “Thursday Night Football” on Amazon Prime Video.

It was only a preseason game, mostly played by second and third-stringers, but football fans quickly grew frustrated with Cris Collinsworth on Thursday.

“You know what I haven’t missed? Chris Collinsworth,” a fan said.

“It’s that time of year again to say “Tf is Cris Collinsworth talking about?” quipped another.

“man – it’s been so long since I screamed at the TV “SHUT UP CRIS COLLINSWORTH!”. so glad football is back,” a fan wrote.

“I’m sick of Chris Collinsworth already and he didn’t even talk about Mahomes,” said another.

“How does cris collinsworth still have a job? @NBCSports,” a fan commented.

“Somehow Collinsworth has gotten even worse at his job. Worst commentator in the game 🤦🏽‍♂️,” said a user.

Cris Collinsworth has a career that will always have plenty of haters and critics. Other prominent NFL analysts like Troy Aikman and Tony Romo are no different, and former CBS Sports analyst Phil Simms knows the feeling, too.

The 66-year-old Collinsworth became the new color commentator for “Sunday Night Football” in 2009 following the legendary John Madden’s retirement. Collinsworth worked with the aforementioned Al Michaels from 2009 to 2021 before the latter left the network three years ago.

Collinsworth and Tirico will be on the call for the NFL Kickoff Game on Sept. 4, when the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles play host to the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys.

Three days later, Collinsworth and Tirico will call a can’t-miss showdown between Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens and Josh Allen’s Buffalo Bills on “Sunday Night Football.”

At family dinner, my mother-in-law suddenly screamed that her $10,000 was missing. Before I could react, my sister-in-law pointed straight at me. “It was her! I saw her sneaking into Mom’s room!” she shouted. In an instant, my MIL grabbed a baseball bat and ordered me to confess. “I didn’t take—” I tried to explain, but the bat was already swinging—aimed directly at me and my 4-year-old daughter. Instinct kicked in; I wrapped my arms around her as my MIL roared, “Where’s my money?!” At that exact moment, the front door slammed open—my husband had just walked in.

When the door swung open, I thought I had simply come home a little early. But then everything collapsed around me: my mother lay on the floor, blood seeping from the corner of her mouth… and the phone beside her showed only one final message—my father on a yacht, hand in hand with a woman I had never seen before. In that moment, I understood that the secrets in my family were far darker than anything I had ever imagined.

In front of 52 family members, my mom held up her glass, gestured to my sister, and said proudly, “This is the daughter who’s always been there for us. The other one? She’s never done anything.” I stayed silent. No one knew that I was the daughter who’d been paying their mortgage and bills for nearly a decade. So I simply smiled, set my drink down, and walked out of the reunion. The next morning, my phone screen lit up—38 missed calls waiting for me.

The Burtons’ annual family reunion was always loud, chaotic, and soaked in cheap champagne, but…
