Malignaggi, 44, showed he still had plenty of ability in his locker as he edged out a victory in a split decision.

However, it would have taken many by surprise to be told he was the winner by the look of his face after the fight.

The Italian-American, like Goodjohn, was left battered and covered in blood by the time the final bell was rung.

He could be seen with a massive cut running from near the top of his forehead and into his right eyebrow.

Malignaggi was also left with swollen hands from punching Goodjohn multiple times throughout the bout.

After being named the winner, the fighter admitted that he could not see out of his right eye.

He said: “After that eye poke, when I went down, I still can’t see.

“I’m still foggy on this side. That may be why I got hit with that shot that cut me.

He was rushed to hospital where he stayed overnight.

Speaking to BKB, he said: “Spent the night in hospital.

“I have not slept yet. So, besides that and then being sore and banged up from the fight, I feel like an old man.
