Daniel Green, one of the men convicted for the murder of Michael Jordan’s father, James Jordan, has asked to be released, having spent 30 years in prison.
Green, now 50, was accused of killing Jordan, whose body was found with gunshot wounds in North Carolina in 1993. He was arrested along with Larry Demery, with police stating that the murder was part of a robbery gone wrong.
Michael Jordan learned of his father’s death just weeks after leading the Chicago Bulls to a three-peat.
Green confessed to helping Demery dispose of James’ body, which was found decomposed in a swamp. However, he denies any involvement in the killing.
In a surprising twist, Gregory Weeks, the judge who presided over the trial in 1996, called for his release last year, claiming to have been haunted for three decades over a substance found in Jordan’s car that may not have been his blood, given that the jury never heard about it.
Daniel Green Issues Plea To Michael Jordan
Green was granted parole in 2020 but was disappointed to learn it was rescinded a year later.
He has issued a plea to Jordan and his family, maintaining his innocence.
“To Michael Jordan, to his family, I’m not responsible for James Jordan’s death,” he told News13 in a lengthy interview. “I’m not responsible for his death… prison is not a place that anyone should want to be.
“Especially somebody that’s innocent of the charges. I am innocent of these charges that I was convicted of.”
Green and Demery met in third grade; he was 18 years old at the time of the incident. He claimed Demery showed up at his godmother’s house with a body inside a red Lexus and eventually helped him dispose of it.
He said he didn’t know the dead man was Michael Jordan’s father, but he believed his friend knew “because there’s been talk about championship rings, but I’ve never seen a championship ring.”
“But why did I (dispose of the body)? I mean, I was a kid… as a 50-year-old man, which is what I am right now, to ask me, why did I do something like that now? I would not be able to give you a rational reason. I was just not thinking about the consequences, I was in the moment.”
That he filmed a rap video wearing an NBA watch given to James by his son, as well as MJ’s 1986 All-Star ring certainly didn’t help his case.
Brittney Griner Finally Breaks Her Silence Over Alleged Caitlin Clark Comments That The WNBA Refused To Investigate
Brittney Griner (Photo via Twitter)
WNBA star Brittney Griner was at the center of a new debate over what she allegedly said in a game against basketball phenom Caitlin Clark.
The Atlanta Dream center found herself at the center of social media controversy last month when some fans thought she disparaged Indiana Fever star guard Caitlin Clark upon fouling out.
The game’s broadcast focused on an upset Griner saying something as she returned to the Dream bench after fouling out of the game. While there’s no audio of this moment, some who tried to read Griner’s lips thought she called Clark a “trash f–king white girl.”
However, there’s no proof of Griner saying those actual words since others thought she stated something else.
It took weeks for someone to finally get a quote from her, and she provided much of nothing.
Brittney Griner was asked about this moment before her team’s June 15 game against the Washington Mystics and said, “I remember fouling out, being mad. I remember fouling out on, I believe it was [Natasha] Howard driving to the basket. They said I put my hand in.”

Moments before the conclusion of the Indiana Fever’s 81-76 victory over the Dream at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta weeks ago, cameras seemingly caught Atlanta Dream star center Brittney Griner labeling Caitlin Clark “trash” before calling her a “f***ing white girl” in frustration over a foul on Natasha Howard.
The clip of Griner speaking on the bench, lacking context, spread on social media and went viral.
Griner, who won a gold medal for Team USA at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, essentially got aw@y with whatever came out of her mouth because the league basically ignored the controversy.
This incident is not the only time Griner vocalized her frustrations this season. Following another game, she stormed off mid-interview, yelling at the referees to “be f—ing better.
