The WNBA realm is getting pretty exciting. And with the trade deadline approaching, teams are now looking to make the best acquisitions for themselves. And one of the biggest rumors that was going around involved DiJonai Carrington. Traded from the Connecticut Sun to the Dallas Wings back in February, Carrington sought options.
With the Wings looking to build a strong roster for the future, it was expected that they would sell some big-money players. After all, barring Paige Bueckers, the Wings have not clicked as a team for the season. Finally, with Carrington bidding adieu to Dallas, a strong championship contender has brought her in.
DiJonai Carrington Looks To Make Merry With Minnesota Lynx
DiJonai Carrington has joined the Minnesota Lynx and will be looking to push hard for a championship run. After weeks of speculation, ESPN’s Alexa Philippou finally confirmed the news. The 27-year-old reportedly was traded in exchange for Karlie Samuelson, Diamond Miller, and a second-round draft pick in 2027.
Surely, this will be a massive boost for Lynx. Going toe-to-toe with the New York Liberty, the Lynx are enjoying their peak position. With only five losses and 24 wins, Minnesota looks like a clear-cut contender for the championship. And the duo of Carrington and Napheesa Collier can spell further doom for their opponents if they click.
The former Wings star is the current WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year. She has averaged 10.4 points per game and an impressive 5.1 rebounds. Despite being an all-around athlete, her interests faced a roadblock once the Wings had her come off the bench.
DiJonai Carrington Struggled With The Dallas Wings
Carrington had one of the best seasons playing for the Connecticut Suns. Unfortunately, most of her stats took a nosedive after moving to the Wings. Her shooting dropped to 35% from 40%. Surprisingly, the 27-year-old also had the third-lowest scoring efficiency on the team. Considering the Wings’ squad is predominantly rookies, this was a big surprise. One of the main reasons for this was perhaps Carrington’s demotion to the bench.
“It was hard for me just being that the whole point of me coming to Dallas was to expand my role. So, I feel like, not that coming off the bench means it’s diminished, but sort of in a sense, a little bit,” Carrington said.

Thus, getting a new opportunity to prove her worth, fans cannot wait to see how DiJonai Carrington approaches her season.
