Sheinelle Jones Shares Al Roker’s Act Of Kindness
When Sheinelle Jones took a leave from The Today Show, viewers were shocked and worried about her. She was dealing with personal issues, and as it turned out, her husband, Uche Ojeh, was ill. In May 2025, Uche passed away from brain cancer, and it was unclear if Sheinelle would come back. Some believed that she would have been great to sit beside Jenna Bush Hager. Yet, they also did not think she was ready to come back for the Fall 2025, so they gave up hope.
Now, she has returned, much to the delight of viewers, as of September 5th, 2025. Yes, they all know what she went through was horrid, but to have her back in the mornings is a breath of fresh air. When she made her big comeback, Sheinelle made sure to share how her co-workers helped her get by. She noted that it was meteorologist Al Roker who was there for her children. Sheinelle noted that he would bring her kids breakfast sandwiches while they sat in hospice. Al knows all too well what it is like to be sick and have the Today family rally.
Aside from being around her colleagues, Sheinelle Jones also did a personal interview detailing all she had been through. This year has been a whirlwind, and her fans have been extremely worried. They wanted to ensure that she was taken care of and taking care of herself. Every co-host on Today contributed in some way, from sending Sheinelle words of encouragement to treats to being a shoulder to cry on.
She Was Missed
Savannah Guthrie made it clear that Sheinelle Jones was missed during her absence. The Today Show was not the same when she was away, and it was clear she completes the group. Viewers who celebrated her return had nothing but love for Sheinelle and her family:
